Campus Batch 2010

Today marks a new chapter in your lives. Your formal academic training is complete. For all of you it is the beginning your professional careers. A career that each and every one of you hopes will be a successful one.

What is the definition of a successful career and how does one ensure this is the key question ? Can we all arrive at a common definition at all ? Probably not.

Success ….it is subject to interpretation.

I offer some quotes on this topic from some successful individuals:

1. "One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation ."Arthur Ashe

2. "Personal development is your springboard to personal excellence. Ongoing, continuous, non-stop personal development literally assures you that there is no limit to what you can accomplish." Brian Tracy

3. "Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." Winston Churchill

4. There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there. Indira Gandhi

So in summary success can be achieved by preparation and perseverance not good luck remember. Is there a place where "Success comes before work only in the dictionary…

This is a great opportunity to prepare, that is the essence of what you will be doing for the next 12 weeks or so, Prepare ! Prepare ! Prepare !

Prepare for working hard, prepare for your professional career in technology, prepare for the day when surely someone will come to you and ask that question “ Can you do this for me ? What will your answer be, will it be Yes I can !

Prepare for life, you have some habits many good I hope, here is an opportunity to hone them to make them even better and perhaps drop some bad ones. This is not about Infogain, this is about how to take young impressionable minds and mould them to achieve success. I think we can do this together but remember in the session there will be one instructor and 45 or 50 of you, similarly this is mostly about you, 90% of what happens in the session and whether you move forward is depended on you only 5-10% on the instructor.

It is unlikely that you will ever again have the chance to participate in such a set of trainings and sessions, I hope you will make the most of them, to get the fullest out of them, remember one day soon someone will ask “ Can you do this for me “ ?

  2. The post was really motivating. I look forward to
more such posts that inspire us to give our best.
So much can be gained by the knowledge and experience of our seniors, and this is a nice platform for them to share their wisdom.

I particularly like the quotes on success and would like to share another saying by Aristotle on the importance of perseverance:
"We are what we repeatedly do, Excellence therefore is not an act, but a habit"

  14. Going through the post it really remind me the big day of my life... my first step in the corporate sector...my first day at Infogain...

Eddie's words were so thought provokin, they gave us the courage and the strength to face the new face of life...

Each definition given provides a different facet to the word SUCCESS....last one's my favourite... the 1 given by Indira Gandhi.

Thank you so much Eddie...Keep it up...

  15. This post by Eddie has provided us a new vision for success.Since we have entered in a corporate world or u can say that in the new world, so such kind of motivations are necessary for our first stepping stone. Through the same we have learnt how to proceed for the success and make ourself so capable that one day, as Eddie said, someone will ask us-"Can you Do this for me ?".

  19. The post provides me a lot of confidence and energy to be sincere for my responsibilities.

After entering in corporate horizon everyone is associated with lots of dependencies and responsibilities. Our steps should be such that it could lead us to the success. Our effort should be in proper direction and should be combined with self confidence. We have lots of challenges in our way. To deal with these challenges we must consider that whatever I am doing is the best and unique for sake of this world.
I will like to tell my self experience:
If one feels that he has fallen to lowest level, it is a time to be happy for him because any step he makes will lead him to higher levels. One should not consider himself at the topmost level at any moment because next step will take him to the lower levels.

  20. "Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved"--
This is what we should do.We should not accept anything as it is in our fate but as it is our own choice and always be sure that we make our own.

  21. Well, these are the words which will influence all of us, no matter how many times you listen to these or read these. When I was going through the post I was feeling same buzz in my body, as I was having while listening these from Mr. Eddie Chandhok on 5th-July-2010 when he was addressing all new comers of BootCamp. Not only me but all of us would like to have such a motivating session with him once again.....

  22. "There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group there is less competition there"
The whole post was motivating but these lines instilled confidence in me.
We should all try to fit in the first category because the long term success will come only if we be in first category.

  23. Inspiring enough to motivate me to give my 200%. But i would like to add that "try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value" as said by Albert Einstein. As it is the values that will help a person to get success with it. They both go hand in hand as one follows the other.

Apart from this, "as it marks a new chapter in our life" as said by Mr.Eddie, we should take this opprtunity to continue on with our success for ourself and the company as well.

Thanks Mr.Eddie and looking forward for our future at Infogain.

  24. The quote "There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group there is less competition there" by Indira Gandhi seems to be analogous to 80-20 rule to me.

Although this analogy is a bit humorous. But I think this quote states that 80% work is done by 20% of the people. And yes I would love to be in those 20% and I await the day somebody will ask me "Can you do this for me ?"
